Must tickets be purchased in advance?
Tickets must be purchased in advance and quickly sell out ahead of time, so please book well in advance.
How much food is served on the tour?
There are 4 stops on the tour where you will be served small specialty meals. Tour participants should not eat lunch prior to a tour.
What types of food are served on the tour?
Food includes a variety of local specialties. Each tour will include several different courses, including appetizers/small plates, entrees and desserts. Non-alcoholic beverages will be included and alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Foods and venues included on tours have been chosen for their commitment to excellence, representation of the Lowcountry and innovation that make Charleston a dining mecca.
Does the tour guide accept gratuities?
Yes. Guide gratuities are greatly appreciated, although not required.
Are there any beverages served on the tour?
Each restaurant will serve water or other beverages with each meal. Alcoholic beverages can be paired with each dish on the tour for an additional cost.
Do tickets need to be purchased for children?
Tickets are not required for children below the age of 7. However, please do let us know if you will be attending with an infant or young child when you purchase your tickets.
Do we just walk around and sample food?
Charleston Culinary tours combine both a tour of Charleston's historic district and a culinary tour. Tours are fully narrated by your guide and include opportunities to interact with the chefs, proprietors and other restaurant staff at each of our stops.
Are restrooms available during the tour?
Yes. Bathrooms are available at each of the restaurant stops.
How much walking is involved?
Charleston Culinary tours are walking tours. Historic Charleston is extremely pedestrian friendly and walking is the best way to enjoy the charm of this beautiful, hidden city. Approximately, half of the tour will be spent walking. We walk at a comfortable pace. Most restaurant stops are 20-25 minutes. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes and clothes.
What happens if it rains?
Tours are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the stops on tour. We will not be outdoors for the entire tour. Tours may be rescheduled based on severe conditions, such as a hurricane!
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Yes, cameras are welcome and your tour guide will help identify particularly photogenic spots (and serve as amateur photographer on request).
Where does the tour finish?
All tours end within easy walking distance of all downtown Charleston hotels.
Can I shop on the tour?
We ask that, in deference to other tour participants, you wait until after the tour to shop so that we can stay on schedule and ensure an enjoyable experience by all. After the tour, please feel free to shop at any of the venues included on the tour and explore Charleston further!
What if I have dietary restrictions?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate modifications due to dietary restrictions.
Are tours offered only in English?
Yes.
Are there kosher options on the tour?
Unfortunately, we do not serve kosher food on the tour.
